About Dream Me Up

Once upon a time…

Based in Paris (the city of LOVE-y), a french startup called Typlume & Graphine (if too hard to pronounce, just say T&G :-)) stepped into augmented narrativity,
the idea was to allow individuals to add their real life material into stories.

The first project was www.LaVieDeMonDoudou.com (figurative translation, “The Life of my Lovey”) celebrates and animates kids’ most precious childhood companions.
Like many businesses, the idea was born out of a simple desire.  In this case, I was determined not to give my nieces and nephews yet another lifeless doll or toy truck for Christmas.
Instead, i wanted to give something meaningful; a gift each child would personally relate to and cherish forever.
i asked my siblings for photos of their kids’ loveys, applied a graphic design magic and voila!

For some people, the mention of a special teddy bear or blanky conjures up sweet childhood memories, long forgotten but fondly remembered.
When I shared this idea with friends, I found that each wanted me to know something about their own coveted object of affection:
a teddy lost its arm in a sibling tug-of-war but now rested safely in a keepsake box in the attic; a threadbare giraffe sat on the office desk as a good luck charm;
a tattered silky lay between the sheets of a grown up bed still providing comfort at bedtime.
I had no idea teddies, blankeys and loveys held such meaningful and tender places in my friends’ hearts!

Many parents can relate to this business because their son or daughter possesses (or, more accurately, obsesses about) a special blanky or plush pal.  Almost every parent has a story about phone calls made to restaurants or stores in search of a lost blanky or nah nah; daycare classrooms ransacked to find the one stuffed animal able to comfort the toddler who can’t sleep; the retail hunt for a back-up plushie just in case the orginal ever disappeared; and of course the story about one child’s discovery that the replacement plushie was in fact …an imposter.   It was clear that moms and dads had just as much time and emotion invested in their kids’ loveys as kids themselves.

The second project was www.trombinabulle.com, this one offers products starring the children themselves, as augmented narrativity can be a precious asset in education and fun we had to create products for the older brothers and sisters ;-)

American kids are not so different than french kids so we decided to mix our first two projects into a third one dedicated to the US.

So this is how www.DreamMeUp.com came to be.
